Guide to fix Black Ops 2 lag, stutter, freezing and disconnection issues!
If you lag in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, your ping is high or you have an increased latency, your gameplay will suffer and this is most frustrating, especially if you are on a mission with your mates. Before you panic in such a situation, note that at least 1 or 2 days after the release, there will be updates and possible upcoming expansions; the Black Ops 2 game servers will be under high pressure from gamers.

You should only worry if lag, stuttering, freezes and disconnections are not going to stop for you! In this case you suffer from permanent lag, high ping or increased latency issues!
How to terminate the causes of lag issues in Black Ops 2?
We do not really need to mention that your computer (Black Ops 2 PC version) must meet the system requirements. If you play on the minimum system requirements lag is even more possible than if your computer meets the recommended ones. You can find the system requirements here:
- OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 Minimum
- Intel Core2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHz or AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHz
- Minimum Memory: 2GB for 32-bit OS or 4GB for 64-bit OS
- Min.: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512 MB or ATI Radeon HD 3870 512 MB
- HD: 16GB Minimum
- Sound: DirectX 9.0c-compatible DirectX:: DirectX 9.0c
- Other: Broadband connection (min. 256kbs) required for activation and multiplayer gameplay
One of the simplest things you can do to check if the lag only appears in Black Ops 2 is to try to play another game (online) or a multiplayer game. If you only lag in Black Ops 2 then it's most likely that you need to investigate if you have any driver or system performance issues and try to play the game on the lowest settings. Note: More than 60% of all lagging online gamers and multiplayer gamers having these issues because of a slow performing system or internet connection. The reasons could be simply that you have wrong or missing registry settings, corrupted protocols or processes, malfunctioning services, too many junk files, an overloaded temp folder, overloaded system memory, wrongly configured virus-scanners & firewalls or other 3rd party applications blocking processes or DLLs. Also irregularly maintained hard disks or even local networks can cause lag. This list could be extended to a couple of pages... You can troubleshoot and fix many of these issues with LATENCY OPTIMIZER (here)
YOUR INTERENT CONNECTION
In the case of lag being caused by a slow performing or unstable internet connection (more than 30% of all lagging players have this issue) you will need to troubleshoot your internet connection speed and ping. You can download SPEEDTEST4FREE from our Website (here) and make speed and ping tests. You can easily save your results, compare them and analyze them with this software.
YOUR XBOX, Wii U OR PALYSTATION
If you play on XBOX, Wii U or Playstation 3, the best bet is to check your extended memory stick, verify that all wires are plugged in properly and that your wireless antenna is fully functional. You can also check here for a solution on how to connect your XBOX to your computer to share its tuned & tweaked internet connection for performance increase!
GAME SERVERS & GAME SETTINGS
There are rumors that Activision has invested a large sum of money in their new server infrastructure but there are other that say that Activision has outsourced all servers to a professional partner. However, we believe that the newest technology is used and that lag caused from game server will be under 2%! You can easily find out if your lag is caused by the game servers by talking to other players, mates, buddies and checking the support website (here) for any announcements! Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's game settings actually do not cause primary lag, these settings are related to the system requirements and your individual hard and software setup. If your mouse is lagging on your screen that's a good sign on investigating the Black Ops 2 game settings and related system requirements.
How to fix Black Ops 2 lag, high ping and latency issues on PC?
A. Fix Game Server lag
It is a myth that you can fix lag caused by game servers from your end. Fixing lag caused by game servers on the user's side is technically not possible. Only the game server administrators or the datacenter can fix this kind of lag!
B. Fix Internet Service Provider lag
If your ISP provides you with a bad line or weak signal, you can run a speed and ping test, send the results to your ISP and ask them to fix it. Sometimes the router you have bought or got from your ISP might have filters installed, needs custom settings for specific games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 ,or needs to have the intrusion detection disabled (security risk).
However, sometimes port-forwarding or a tunnel service can help, but be aware that if you sign up for a tunnel service the distance between you and the tunnel service shouldn't be that far, otherwise you can still suffer from high latency as your ping might increase over distance.
By using Latency Optimizer, specifically its advanced settings, you will be allowed to apply up to 45 tweaks and fine-tunings to optimize the data sent and received. This comes in handy if you want to fine-tune the game data synchronization. The best bet is always to talk to your ISP about the lag issues and use Latency Optimizer's analytic tools to provide proof of the issues. Usually, the ISP will tell you that the issue is caused on your END. But hey, if you optimized your system with the most powerful optimization suite available you can be quite sure that your end is OK. (Note that you still need to ensure that your hardware, drivers and security applications aren't causing the issues.)
C. Fix lag caused by your System or Internet connection settings, processes and protocols.
