Tips To Fix Stormblood Lag On PC Version

In most of the cases lag problems are just present in the first 1 - 2 days after release because of massive logins in same time. This is perfectly normal because Final F antsy XIV has an immense player base and everybody will be curios to play the new expansion as soon as possible. Note that such lag issues in first 1 -2 days are happening in other popular games as well!

Analyze And Fix Lag

Actually "lag" is an umbrella term for many problems including high latency, unstable ping, fps drops and so on, everything that results in a delay of something or stuttering. Lag problems in Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood can be stuttering graphics, videos and sound or delay of your actions, damage and healing calculation, chat messages and so on.

A.) Your 1st step is to check for announcements about game server latency problems here, if the game server has issues you cannot do nothing at your end. You will need to wait it out, there is no technical solution that will allow you to fix such issue. Only Square Enix and their ISP can fix it! You can also try to contact in-game friends and ask if the have lag issues as well, then you can be certain its not your computer or internet connection.

B.) Adjust your game settings! Temporary change all graphics, video and sound settings to lowest or minimum!!! Restart your Computer and check if the lag is gone. Double check if your Computer meets the system requirements:

OS: Windows® 7 32/64 bit, Windows® 8.1 32/64 bit, Windows® 10 32/64 bit
Processor: Intel® Core™i5 2.4GHz or higher
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: 1280 x 720: NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX750 or higher, AMD Radeon™ R7 260X or higher
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 60 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectSound® sound card (DirectX® 9.0c or higher)
Additional Notes: System Requirements may be subject to change. If you are using a router, make sure you have the following ports set up to allow game packets to pass through. TCP Ports: 80, 443, 54992-54994, 55006-55007, 55021-55040

OS: Windows® 7 64 bit, Windows® 8.1 64 bit, Windows® 10 64 bit
Processor: Intel® Core™i7 3GHz or higher
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: 1920 x 1080: NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX970 or higher AMD Radeon™ RX 480 or higher
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 60 GB available space

Note that playing on minimum system requirements might not allow you to play on highest or maximum settings that could be a problem when it comes to competitive playing! Also playing on highest setting when your Computer just meets the minimum requirements usually causes lag problems!

C.) Your 2nd step to fix such lag is to find the remaining lag causes! Therefore its recommended to troubleshoot your internet connection and Computer´s performance. A fast method is to download a free speed and ping test and use Latency Optimizer to test your latency and Computer performance. You will need to invest some little time to do all the necessary steps to spot the lag cause. It will also include to record your game-play for about 10 till 15 minutes and read trough the Performance Recorder log file where you will see the behavior of Windows services and process, CPU, RAM and your internet connection.

D.) If you are certain that your Computer or internet connection causes the lag you will have a set of tools included in Latency Optimizer that will help you to fix most of the common lag issues. Optimize your internet connection settings and latency, clean your Computers junk files, clean your HDD, boost your network performance, tweak and tune windows performance settings and much more... Please note no magic can be done! Fixing lag is a very complex task and we highly recommend to read other articles in our knowledge-base to support our efforts! Search trough the knowledgebase here.

F.) If you cannot spot latency, ping or FPS problems caused at your end you might want to contact your ISP for further assistance. It can be sometimes frustrating as most of the ISP´s tend to tell the issues are at your end without even starting to investigating or they have temporary issues or provide you with weak signals or poor lines. In such case you can send analytic data and screenshot from Latency Optimizer to your ISP to proof you checked your end!
